Here are some photos of El Tajin in Papantla, Veracruz, Mexico. El Tajin was built by the Totonacos, an Indigenous group from Puebla and Veracruz (who still exist today, along with the culture, language, traditions and customs). El Tajin was once the center of a huge Totonaco empire from 600 to 1200 A.D.

The last two photos show of what El Tajin looked like thousands of years ago. Back then, El Tajin was painted white with red trim, but the paint had faded over thousands of years.

I am going back there again tomorrow.

P.S - the Totonacos were the first people to cultivate vanilla.

last four trips to mexico this has been one of the place i’ve wanted to go, i wanna see all of the motherland.
